Yesterday evening, Hanna invited me to join her with friends to see the lights in the city, and have a fika at her place after.

Fika is a verb without direct translation, but we can translate it like this: “have a brake”, so stop your activites to have a break and eat something and drink coffee. ;-)

Decembre started, the shops are full of Christmas products and gifts. The city is full of nice decorations… In Linköping, every years for 6 years, some lights are everywhere in the city (as Uppsala, if you red this post) and offer a interactive experience with peoples: sounds & lights when you walk in the street, colors changing in differents movement of your body etc.. We walked in the streets to discover this locations! With the snow, it was perfect! Colors are so nice with all this white snow! But pictures are not so good, it’s hard to take some nice ones with a small camera like mine.

After the walk, we went at Hanna’s place to have a Fika.

Bouteille de Glögg

At this time of the year, we can drink Julmust (some spicy and fruity cola that not everyone like, but I love it!) or some Glögg (alcohol-free hot wine, more sweet and of course, you can add some rhum or vodka in).

We ate also pepparkakor (some christmas spicy cookies). One of the tradition is to put the cookie in your hand, and hit the cookie with your index of your other hand in the middle of it, if it’s broken in 3 pieces, you have to do a wish while eating your pepparkaka in silence. I got 2 yesterday! :D

Fact  from Sweden: the Christmas advent calendar with chocolates is not really old here, it’s only for 2-3year that it’s popular. Instead of it, children watch TV every day a special program as a series and open a door on a calendar as they watch the TV to discover an object or a picture in relation with the episode. Of course the 24th of December, all the intrigue is revealed, good peoples win and bad ones become good and everyone make party.
