A small post, different as the other because it’s not about my Sweden trip but it’s about this thing because of some common people call me “geek”: Linux, particulary its graphical interface.

I just leave Gnome, too heavy, too much time to load and not exactly as I wanted, too much files on the desktop. So I installed OpenBox and I am glad!

I you would like try something more light (for performances or visual light) you could install OpenBox:

sudo apt-get install openbox obmenu obconf

After, it’s up to you to customise your workspace as you wish!

Here is the list of the softs I use with my new openbox desktop:

- nitrogen for the wallpaper

adeskbar for the dock (a python written dock really light and fast, easy to setup, without the eyecandy effects of cairo-dock or other in the same category)

- tint2 for the systray and windows (customisable, lightweight: match exactly with Openbox)

- conky everyone know this one :) for the systems informations on the desktop

- parcellite, paste manager (very usefull and smart if you enjoy the ctrl-c ctrl-v )

- redshift, for your eyes, it adjusts the color temperature of your screen according to your surroundings.(thank’s Luc !)

Here is my autostart file that you could modify for your config!
